Empact conducted a research study for a grantmaker on the outcomes and activities of the UBS Diversity in Abilities Programme, a funded programme that uses the appreciation and enjoyment of the arts as a pathway to integrate persons with disabilities into the community.
Data collection included a mixture of qualitative data (i.e. focus group discussions, interviews, site observations) and quantitative data (based on identified constructs of intended programme outcomes) using customised evaluation tools to 100 students on the programme, three to five trainers and staff from each of the eight special education schools.
Outcome:
The final report highlighted observations of programme outcomes as well as the attitudes and perceptions stakeholders had toward the programme. Not only was this used to update the funder on the impact of the programme, it was also a way to identify areas of improvement for its future runs.
